Par Hawaii employees Donate to Hawaii Island's food bank

Dec 4th 2019

Par Hawaii employees in Hilo and Kawaihae came together to gather and donate 637 pounds of food and $1,000 to support the efforts of The Food Basket, Hawaii Island's food bank.

The food bank this year received 30% more requests for emergency sustenance compared to last year. The 2018 Kilauea eruption in lower Puna is the primary reason for the increase in requests, according to food basket staff. With the holiday season upon us, The Food Basket is asking the community to please give what they can.

Anyone interested in donating food can drop donations off at The Food Basket warehouses, located at 40 Holomua St. in Hilo or 73-4161 Ulu Wini Place in Kailua-Kona.
