Oct 11, 2018

Par Hawaii, the state’s leading supplier of petroleum products and transportation fuels, broke ground today for a $27 million distillate hydrotreater. The unit, designed to remove sulfur, will produce clean ultra-low sulfur diesel and enable the Par refinery to produce more jet fuel, two products that are in high demand.

Gov. David Ige, along with other government and business leaders, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony that was held at Par Hawaii’s refinery in Kapolei. Planning for the addition of the distillate hydrotreater began a year ago, and construction is expected to start this month. Construction is targeted for completion in 2019.
