If you're looking for a different Hawaii golf vacation experience, look toward the Waimea Country Club golf course. The golf course was built on pasturelands, surrounded by cattle ranches. It is wide open, yet the many Ironwood trees can affect your golf game. Watch for the wild turkeys, pheasant, and ducks along with the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and Mauna Kea. It is definitely not a typical Hawaii golf course.
Hawaii's golf concierge says:
"The fairway roughs are standard sized, but the greens are slightly tilted and fast. There are 28 bunkers and water will come into play on 5 different holes. Overall, a challenging and unique golf experience."
Tips for this course:
- Hole 1: The starting hole here at Waimea Country Club favors a right center tee shot for optimum access to the green. The approach shot brings you to a level green. Where being short of the green is preferred to negotiate par.
- Hole 2: Our first par three requires the correct club selection in order to attain a pin position on this treacherously two-tiered green.
