Kona Country Club's Mountain Course

78-7000 Alii Drive
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740

Bordered by the stunning Kona coastline, Kona Country Club's Mountain Course on the Big Island features an alluring mountain backdrop, Bermuda greens and three sparkling lakes. The various elevations on the front nine provide many challenges - not to mention the added distraction of swaying palms, vivid blue ocean and sweeping views from Kona to Keauhou. Stop at the 14th hole where a cascading waterfall, black lava rock, and miles of ocean reward players with the best Hawaii golf scenery around.

Golf Digest magazine rates this Hawaii golf course with four stars, and local Hawaii golfers agree. Golfers on the Kona Country Club Mountain Golf Course find themselves playing over lava tube blow holes, looking over onto the Pacific Ocean or admiring ancient Hawaiian archeological sites. Beautiful scenery, beautiful golf on a course that should not be missed during your Big Island golf vacation.

There will be tournament play October 17-18, 2009. Please be advised that tee time availability will be limited.

Hawaii's golf concierge says:

"Take a moment to absorb the beauty of holes #5 and #14. The drops from the tee to the green will absolutely astound you. The Kona Country Club Mountain Golf Course is located about 10 minutes from downtown Kona on the Big Island. It is near most of the Kona condos and hotels."

Tips for this course:

  • Don't let the water scare you on hole #2. Although your tee shot must carry over water, this 450-yard par 5 is relatively straight to the pin. Watch the low wall that juts out on the right side of the fairway; after that, it's smooth sailing to the hole.
  • Aim to the left of the fairway on hole #13, but take care to miss the fairway bunker on the left. The tee and fairway curve to the right before you get to the hole. While you might think about shortcutting through the trees on the right, the left is a much safer play and you'll likely be able to par this hole.
