Makalei Golf Club stands out above the rest and is a must play for your golf vacation. The golf course is situated nearly 2,000 feet high on grand Mauna Kea and features a unique collection of distinctive par 3 holes, short to mid-range par 4s and beautiful par 5s. Golfers will find the undulating fairways and greens challenging for every level. It's definitely different than the resort golf courses you will find on the Kohala coastline.

Tips for this course:
- Hole 1: This first hole is a relatively short uphill par 4. Your tee shot is the key as the goal here is to reach the upper level of the fairway, about 225 yards from the tee. From there it's just a short pitch shot to a small green.
- Hole 2: Your tee shot is critical on this demanding downhill par 3. Club down 2-3 clubs to account for the downhill slope. The green is well guarded by bunkers to the left and right of the green, so play short and let the ball bounce on to the green. Par is a great score on this hole.
